Producer - Resident Individual
Any applicant for a Resident Individual producer license must:

1. Be at least eighteen years of age;
2. Not have committed any act that is a ground for a licensure sanction set forth in §431:9A-112
3. Pay the applicable fee
4. Pass the applicable examination for each line of authority for which the applicant has applied.

NOTE:  Any convicted felony engaged in the business of insurance or who is about to engage in the business of insurance in this State shall request the commissioner’s written consent to engage in the business of insurance as required in §431:2-201.3;
To submit a complete application for a Resident Individual producer license the applicant must include:

1. One original application for Individual Insurance License (Form HPL).  The application can be found at:  http://hawaii.gov/dcca/ins/producers/instructions_insurance_license
2. A passing score report (original) from the State of Hawaii Licensing Exam.
3. Pearson VUE is the state licensing exam provider.  They can be contacted at:
   1. Toll Free Number 1-800-274-2608;
   2. www.pearsonvue.com.  You can also visit their site to view the Candidate Handbook, which includes a Content Outline of the Hawaii Exams.
4. A Letter of Clearance (original), for any other state other than Hawaii if applicant previously held any resident insurance license for that state
5. Information for the Variable Annuities line of authority:
   1. Required to hold a Life Insurance License;
   2. Submit evidence of registration with NASD;
6. All Applicable license fees.  The fee schedule can be found at http://hawaii.gov/dcca/ins/producers/instructions_insurance_license
7. Checks should be made payable to DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE & CONSUMER AFFAIRS.

IMPORTANT: All of the items listed above must be submitted together as an application packet. Incomplete applications will be returned to you.

Securities License Requirements

Any securities professional associated with a member firm-including partners, officers, directors, branch managers, department supervisors, and salespersons-must register with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). The registration application requires information about the individual's prior employment and disciplinary history. FINRA prescribes two levels of qualification and registration:

• Registered representatives, generally sales personnel
• Principals, generally officers of the firm and other management personnel involved in the day-to-day operation of the firm's investment banking or securities business

As part of the registration process, securities professionals must pass examinations administered by FINRA to demonstrate competence in the areas in which they will work. These mandatory qualification examinations cover a broad range of subjects on the markets, as well as the securities industry and its regulatory structure, ensuring a minimum level of understanding and expertise.
